My name is Emma, and I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. I believe in building a collaborative relationship with my clients to provide personal and specific care.
I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, and engage in my work from frameworks of anti-racism, decolonialism, and disability justice. I am particularly passionate about working with folks in the LGBTQ+ community, whether processing newly discovered identities and transitions, or navigating general life stressors and challenges.
I work with individuals and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, trauma, grief, identity exploration, life transitions, and daily stressors. Whatever is bringing you to therapy, I am committed to facilitating a healing environment for you to explore and grow.
I believe in strength-based approaches, using skills and tools you already possess to help you make progress on your goals. I strive to create a warm and empowered space for us to explore your past experiences, while also discovering ways to engage differently in your current life. During our work together, we will process emotions, re-author unhelpful core beliefs, and identify realistic strategies to help you achieve a more grounded, connected, and value-aligned life.
To achieve this progress, I ground my work through Narrative Therapy, supplemented with interventions from Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Person-Centered Therapy. I also tie in the body-mind connection through the use of somatic approaches and mindfulness.
Deciding to search for a therapist is an act of self-care and self-compassion. Often, people seek therapy when they are struggling, overwhelmed, or experiencing a crisis. I hope you can take a moment to reflect on how loving and courageous the act of seeking help is. You have recognized that you deserve a space to navigate life’s challenges that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and growth-fostering. I would be honored to provide you with that space.
If you are interested in working with me, I would love to offer you a free consultation for us to discuss your challenges and goals, and so that you can ask me any questions you have. I provide care in-person at Theraheal’s DC location and virtually to DC residents.
