Anneka Buehler (she/her) brings a wealth of expertise in trauma, sexuality, and neurodiversity to TheraHeal. As the daughter of renowned sex therapist Dr. Stephanie Buehler, Anneka upholds the belief that pleasure and play are integral to high quality of life. She is well-versed in treatment options for pelvic pain, ED, PE, and low/mismatched libido. Her door is always open to clients seeking a space where they can authentically express their sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as non-traditional relationship configurations or interests (i.e., ethical
non-monogamy, kink, power exchange).

Anneka believes that inclusive, culturally aware care is a cornerstone of her professional identity and strives to create welcoming environment. Her
background includes over a year of experience as a crisis hotline advocate in Denver, CO, where she supported survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones through critical interventions.

Anneka remains in awe of the resilience and self-advocacy skills demonstrated by her callers to this day, and credits this experience with solidifying her strengths-based approach. She additionally spent over 4 years working with young children and their families to develop neurodiversity-affirming homes using communication skill-building, positive parenting strategies, and a healthy dose of respect and humility.

Anneka employs Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, person-centered approaches, Bowen’s family systems therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She earned her Kink Affirming Professional TM certificate with LearnSexTherapy.com in 2023 and she has received training in EMDR.

Her therapeutic style often blends thoughtful observations, playfulness, and humor to facilitate therapeutic progress.

Anneka is licensed as a Resident in Counseling in Virginia and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in Maryland and DC. She can work with telehealth clients throughout the DMV and sees clients in-person at the Rockville, MD office.

She works with adolescents and adults, as well as couples and families. Currently, Anneka serves as the Program Administrator for LearnSexTherapy.com by The Buehler Institute, where she supports mental health and medical professionals in obtaining certification from the American Association of Sex Educators,
Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).

Outside of her professional life, she enjoys stand-up comedy, cooking, and spending time with her partner and their beloved pets, including a dog named Stitch and a cat named Harley Quinn.
